About Us

The heart of Anglesey Bait Centre is Malcolm Gilroy.

Malc started the business over 30 years ago.
Originally from the south coast he came to this area as a student at Bangor University
studying Marine Biology. He grew to love this part of North Wales and stayed.

As a student he worked at Gallows Point in various roles from petrol pump attendant to helping out in the
Chandlery shop. Again he liked it so he stayed, eventually opening his own tackle shop in 1984.

The shop is not a business to Malc. It is a passion! His desire to look after his loyal customers is almost obsessive.
He works seven days a week and no one can remember him ever having a holiday.

From explaining the joys of catching mackerel to a youngster going fishing with his dad for the first time, to discussing the
way the tides effect the wreck fishing to seasoned boat anglers, his enthusiasm never diminishes.

This, along with an understanding of what tackle is needed for this area, and the fact he believes in carrying a good stock has
seen the shop grow in size over the years. It has gathered a loyal following.

Malc’s passion is shared by his wife Nicky and his able assistant Colin.
